Ever since I gave out some free pencils, my friends have expressed interest in participating in a future similar event. I think I’ve got a good idea for the sequel.
It’s called the Free Market, and it would basically be the same idea, but with multiple stands. Everybody could act as an independent “vendor” or maybe with some kind of tie-in between them. Like, someone gives out pencils while another gives out paper.
Here are some stand ideas I’ve come up with:
- Pencils
- Paper
- Sidewalk chalk
- Cups of water
- Balloons
- Some kind of hand-made crafty thing?
I’m looking for both more ideas for stands and people to man/woman them. If you are interested, comment below and claim something. I’ll be making calls to some of my friends that showed interest, but even if you don’t know me, I’d welcome the company and help. Make that especially if you don’t know me. I think having a group of people hanging out and giving out free stuff could be a lot of fun.
I was thinking this Sunday afternoon in Davis Square could be a good trial run. It may be too short notice to gather enough people, but there’s always the next week.
Update: What is this shit about “short notice” and “Thanksgiving weekend?” Lamers. Let’s shoot for next Sunday, the fourth.
[...] This is a little late to mention it, but the Free Market was snowed out. We’ll tentatively reschedule for next week. Though, the further into winter, the worse it’s going to get… [...]
