Someday Notebook

So a while back, I started a community game of destructo in a public notebook that floated around the Someday Cafe. I never got to see how it went, however, because the next time I went, the book was missing! It never came back. Some punk stole it, presumably.

So I’m replacing it. I went out and bought a notebook and some decorations. I cut up some old Wired magazines and went to work.

I also bought a pen and tied it to the notebook with some string. This way not only the elite pen-carrying customers can use it. Hopefully it will stay tied. I’m not well known for my knots.

I start off with a cautionary tale about young, naive notebooks and implore the reader to guard this one well.

On the second page, I restart the community game of destructo. Hopefully this one will fare better. Note my starting move: the 80s. There was this infamous (among my friends) game of destructo where someone was handed the 80s, and they couldn’t or wouldn’t think of anyway to destroy it, so they made it stronger and drew a forcefield around it.

People! There is only one rule to destructo! It’s not hard to follow. But I’m confident that Somerville can come up with some way to bust up the 80s.

Update: I stopped by today to check up on my baby. After only a day, there was a respectable amount of activity. About 6 pages had new content. One of them was a crudely drawn set of breasts and a penis, but still. There was a poem and some drawings present.

The destructo page was filled up! By one dude… He or she just wrote random stuff all over the available space. In the legend was written something to the effect of “sorry, I didn’t read the rules until after.” I’ll give the benefit of the doubt and applaud the clever meta-play. I think this just furthers the heroic status of the 80s. Only by destroying the game of destructo in some way can it be defeated.
